Multiple Serious Collisions in Stamford Leave Three People in Critical Condition Banner

Two major auto crashes in Stamford resulted in critical injuries for those involved.

The first crash was reported in the vicinity of Cove Road near Van Buskirk Avenue. It happened at roughly 4:30 p.m. June 20.

Early information reported by the Stamford Police Department’s Collision Reconstruction and Analysis division indicates that a BMW driven by a 20-year-old Stamford resident was traveling east on Cove Road before losing control and slamming into the curb. The BMW then spun into a utility pole on the side of the road.

The driver and a passenger were injured and transported to a local hospital. The passenger was reported to have life-threatening injuries, while the driver was treated and released.

Investigators with the Stamford Police Department have indicated that speed may have been a contributing factor in the crash.

Another incident occurred in Stamford last weekend that left two people with critical injuries.

Police are investigating a collision that occurred at midnight June 20 on Hope Street. A vehicle is reported to have left the road and struck three pedestrians near 624 Hope Street. All three were transported to a local hospital, with two listed in critical condition.

Officers found the vehicle, a 2013 Toyota Avalon, in the front yard of a house at 616 Hope Street. The driver, a 22-year-old man, was found standing alongside the car with an injury to his arm.

Once again, police indicate that speed may have been a factor in the pedestrian accident.

Finally, a June 22 crash caused Merritt Parkway to close temporarily. Police were forced to close the northbound lanes for several hours after a serious five car collision occurred. No information was available about injuries to the drivers.
